Sharks

Of the 350 shark species in the world, 30 species only pose a threat to humans, in other words, 90% of sharks are harmless. It has been observed that they usually attack surfers in species that attack humans.

5 Species of Shark

There are 5 species of sharks in our aquarium: Bamboo Shark , Zebra Shark , Guitar Fish , Nurse Shark and Blacktip Shark . Especially predatory species of sharks have to swim constantly, if they don’t, they can’t breathe and sink. For example, reef sharks found in our aquarium are an example of this species.

Zebra Shark

These sharks get their name from the white and black stripes they have when they are born. As the fry grow, these stripes are replaced by a dotted pattern.

During the day, zebra sharks are not very active and usually rest on the bottom, becoming active at night or when they find food. Zebra sharks are strong and agile swimmers, with a tail structure similar to the tail of an eel, they swim faster and more agile.

What do they eat? Crustaceans, Crustaceans, Small Bony Fish and Sea Snakes.

During the day, nurse sharks rest among giant sea fringes on the seabed.

Nurse sharks are active at night. Male nurse sharks capture the female during the breeding season and drag her into deep waters to breed. The nurse shark probably gets its name from the sucking sound of its powerful throat muscles. Since the word nurse in English is also used in the sense of sucking, it is called Nurse shark, and in Turkish it is referred to as nurse shark. They can grow up to a maximum of 4.3 m.

What do they eat?

Sea Snails, Crustaceans, Molluscs and Other Small Fish.

Guitar Sharks are known as a stingray, which represents the primitively developed state of sharks and stingrays with many features. This species is endangered as it is hunted for its fins. By not buying shark products, you can help this species reintroduce its population.
