We provide daily care for more than 200 species under our responsibility, ranging from many fish species to otters and giant saltwater crocodiles. We work hand in hand to ensure they can continue their lives in a healthy and happy way.

Care and Attention
Emaar Aquarium and Underwater Zoo has high standards for the care and attention of creatures. Nutrition programs suitable for the needs of each creature are arranged and these programs are regularly reviewed. Also, we have expert observers to observe and monitor species-specific behaviors. In this way, necessary measures are taken for creatures to lead a healthy and happy life.

Emaar Aquarium and Underwater Zoo by the Numbers
This aquarium in Istanbul invites you to explore the vibrant underwater world with nearly 500 species and 20,000 animals. Emaar Aquarium and Underwater Zoo features 61 exhibits, including 31 fish exhibits, 21 reptile exhibits, 8 mammal exhibits, and 1 bird exhibit featuring penguins.
Opened in 2017, this two-story facility covers 4,500 square meters and has a total water capacity of 1,500,000 liters.
With 11 thematic areas, including the main tank, dream island, waterfall, and forests, both adults and children can immerse themselves in the world of living creatures. At the special gift shop, you can purchase unique souvenirs and take memorable photos.
This underwater zoo in Istanbul, which takes your experience to different dimensions with concepts and shows made during holidays, festivals, and special days, also enables many activities such as scuba diving experience, special school trips, and birthday parties.
Emaar Aquarium, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, ensures that animals smuggled into the country or in need of care receive the necessary treatment and nutrition to continue their lives in suitable conditions. Rehabilitated animals are then placed in environments where they can live happily and healthily, which is one of our core values.
Rehabilitation Program for Rescued Animals
For animals sent for rehabilitation by the Ministry, we follow a detailed program:
- A suitable quarantine tank is prepared for the incoming animal.
- The animal’s health is examined by specialist veterinarians, and important information such as weight and height is recorded for regular monitoring.
- A treatment plan is developed based on the health screening.
- A special feeding program is created for the animal.
- The treatment and feeding program is implemented by biologists and experts over 10 to 60 days, depending on the species, within the quarantine area.
- After the quarantine period, the animal is transferred to a natural habitat area where visitors can also view them. This is also the area where visitors can see the creatures.
Creating Suitable Living Environments
We strive to create living conditions suitable for each species. Although these conditions vary, the general parameters include:
- Physical Water Quality Parameters of Water
- Chemical Water Quality Parameters of Water
- Ambient temperatures
- Humidity levels
- Day and night cycles
- Temperature differences between day and night
- Suitable dietary content for each species, including vegetables, fruits, animal proteins, grains, and legumes
- UVA and UVB requirements
